9 to 5 The Musical
Catch the magic of youth theatre in action!

9 to 5 is a fun, feel‑good musical based on the hit 1980 film, featuring music and lyrics by Dolly Parton. The story follows three very different women, Violet, Judy and Doralee, who work at Consolidated Industries under their awful, sexist boss, Franklin Hart Jr.
After a series of unfair incidents, the trio unite, accidentally end up holding their boss hostage, and use the opportunity to transform their workplace for the better. While Hart is out of the way, they introduce positive changes that boost morale and productivity, all while uncovering his shady behaviour.
Packed with humour, heart and empowerment, 9 to 5 celebrates friendship, teamwork, and standing up for what’s right, proving that real change can start with ordinary people doing extraordinary things.

Jonah Thompson
Director
Meet the Production Team
Returning for his fifth year as Director, Jonah has been captivating audiences on the theatre scene across South Yorkshire for over two decades. With 24 years of performance experience his journey began with Stagecoach, where he was part of their 2010 Guinness World Record for the largest simultaneous performance.
Stage credits include standout roles such as Edna Turnblad in Hairspray, Chuck Cranston and Reverend Shaw Moore in Footloose, Ci in Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, and Nikki Bocker Glory, one of the Angels, in Kinky Boots.
Jonah’s passion for theatre extends beyond performance. He began directing at the age of 19 and has led Wickersley Youngstars as Director for the past four years, having transitioned from a former member to a guiding force behind the scenes. Currently in his final year of teacher training, Jonah continues to inspire young performers with his creative vision and dedication.
Fun Fact: Jonah is known for his uncanny impressions of powerhouse female vocalists including Cher, Anastacia, Mazz Murray, Aretha Franklin, and Ellen Greene.
Hayley Shaw
Musical Director
It’s hard to believe Hayley was once a painfully shy little girl, until her mum dragged her to a dance class at age 7 for confidence (the “worst mistake she ever made!”). Since then, the stage has been Hayley’s second home.
She’s performed in countless shows, with favourites including The Baker’s Wife (Into The Woods), The Wicked Witch of the West (The Wizard of Oz), and Jan (Grease). As a child, she even performed in the operas La Bohème and Tosca!
With an FdA and BA (Hons) in Musical Theatre, Hayley has spent the past 13 years teaching singing, acting and movement. She’s been with Let’s Act for 12 years, producing amazing shows like Chicago, Les Misérables, Annie, Grease and most recently Into The Woods!
Her passion is teaching singing, and her students consistently achieve top marks in exams. After a fantastic first official year at Wickersley Youngstars, Hayley is back for her second year as our Musical Director.
Fun fact: Hayley’s an arts-and-crafts queen who loves painting sets — she even calls her Grease Lightning creation “her own child!”
Adam Hague – Choreographer
Joining the production team this year with a passion for storytelling through movement, Adam brings creativity, variety, and dynamic energy to every show. With years of experience across multiple dance styles, his approach focuses on making choreography exciting and visually engaging while staying true to the heart of the musical.
Guided by the lyrics and emotion of each number, Adam creates routines that enhance the narrative rather than overshadow it. He is known for crafting contrasting styles throughout a production from high‑energy showstoppers to expressive lyrical pieces that draw the audience in, ensuring no two numbers ever feel the same.
Alongside his artistic vision, Adam is deeply committed to working with performers of all abilities. Building confidence is at the centre of his rehearsal style, offering encouragement, tailored support, and plenty of fun along the way. One of his greatest joys is seeing dancers who initially struggled shine on stage when everything finally comes together.
With a head full of constantly evolving ideas, Adam loves surprising audiences with unexpected moments of movement and creativity. His dream choreography projects include Fame, the first musical he ever performed in, as well as favourites such as Legally Blonde and Back to the Future.
